Cortile delle Stelle or Courtyard of the Stars, is a private villa with a swimming pool and courtyard that dates back to the 1830s, and is located in the traditional village of Emporio in Santorini. It features great views of the medieval village of Emporio and in particular of the 13th century fortress of ‘Casteli’ at the top of the village. The villa is surrounded by a stone-built wall offering seclusion and serenity for a care-free family holiday.
The main structure is stone-built and was used by a farming family as far back as nearly 200 years ago. The structure consists of the main house ‘Canava’, with dramatic 5m (15ft) high domed ceilings, which was used for wine making and wine storing in the 19th century. Featuring a palatial like bedroom and a huge living room, it is the central hub of the villa. A unique spacious domed shower and separate bathroom completes this emblematic home. Next to it is ‘Casa’ consisting of a master bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second bedroom with full-size bunk beds, a living room and private bathroom with shower. The couch in the living room can also be used to accommodate an extra person. Finally, there is also ‘Nido’ that can comfortably accommodate two people in its queen-sized bedroom, and private bathroom with shower. The living room features a couch that can also accommodate an extra person.
The impressive and ample courtyard is located in front of the main structure featuring multiple seating areas, a 10-person alfresco dining table and the 10m long beautiful swimming pool with waterfall. At the far end, a full size kitchen and indoor 10-person dining table complete the needs of guests that choose ‘Cortlie delle Stelle’ for longer stays.
